As per the Hindu religion, the Nandi is the Vahana for Lord Mahadev and is Kailash’s guardian. In the ancient South Indian tradition, the bull is regarded as Nandi and one can find it in all Shiva Temples. It is believed that one cannot directly visit and pray to Lord Siva without praying and asking permission from Nandi for granting Shiva Darshan. Nandi is the chief Guru of the practice of yoga.
